Hyprolapping
Microfinishing Services for the Highest Quality and Tightest Tolerance Markets
Precision and Quality
The most Dependable option for Quality precision grinding!
Hyprolapping allows two sides of a flat part to be ground simultaneously. Parts are inserted into fixtures or” sprockets” which rotate in an orbital motion through the lapping wheels. Hyprolapping is capable of producing flatness measured in light bands. The lapping process is beneficial for processing parts made from thin materials.

Advantages of Hyprolapping
Hyprolapping is a specialized precision machining process that draws from both honing and grinding parts. Here are just some of the primary benefits and key advantages of this advanced machining technique:
Precision Machining: Hyprolapping offers exceptional precision, allowing for tight tolerances and fine surface finishes. Through this process, we’re able to provide customers with exceptional accuracy in size control, finish and flatness.
Better Surface Finishes: Companies turn to us for this service because of our ability to provide extremely smooth surface finishes. With hyprolapping, we produce surfaces with low RA/R2 measured using a profilometer – a result that limits the need for additional finishing processes.
Material Compatibility: Hyprolapping is ideal for diverse materials, including metals, ceramics, and some composites. This versatility makes it a preferred choice for manufacturers working with diverse materials.
Tight Tolerance Control: It gives us precies control over tolerances, which means machined parts meet or exceed customers’ dimensional requirements.
Cost-Effective: While maintaining high precision, Hyprolapping can be a cost-effective solution. Our streamlined process cuts down on required machining steps, which leads to lower overall production expenses.

Hyprolapping Applications
A variety of industries rely on hyprolapping for critical parts and components. It is ideal for applications that require high precision. Sectors that use hyprolapping include aerospace, agriculture, automotive, construction, firearms, forestry, industrial, off-highway markets, medical equipment, mining, and semiconductor production.
The firearms industry uses surface grinding operations like hyprolapping to achieve a superior finish on components like bolt carriers, firing pins, and rifle chambers.
Many companies in different industries use hyprolapping to surface-finish fine-blanked parts. Fine blanking uses a triple-action press to apply pressure uniformly across the material surface, resulting in parts with exceptional edge quality, tight tolerances, and reduced need for secondary operations. While fine blanking is a proven way to produce precision metal parts and components, these parts often require additional surface grinding or finishing to achieve improved surface quality, precise dimensional accuracy, and remove burrs in the work piece. Metal injection molding processes can also benefit from this process to improve the surface finish and dimensional accuracy of a produced part.
